Little Italy & Chinatown

When your students visit Little Italy in New York City walking beside the cobble stone streets beneath the fire escapes of turn-of-the-century tenements, they will be tempted by the sights, sounds and smells of Italian cuisine and culture emanating from the restaurants surrounding you at every step. Then move on over to New York’s Chinatown, home to the largest enclave of Chinese people in the Western hemisphere. With an estimated population of 90,000 to 100,000 people, Manhattan’s Chinatown is also one of the oldest ethnic Chinese enclaves outside of Asia. There’s plenty of shopping, restaurants and interesting history to be had.
